Report of the 1st Mission to Guinea Bissau (Foodstuffs)

On Friday, 17.7.2009, "Heart Doctors" traveled by air to Bissau, the capital of Guinea Bissau. The purpose of the visit was to buy and distribute basic food commodities to starving populations of the country.

Powdered milk and rice were purchased from local wholesale markets and distributed to hungry populations living in the regions of Bafata and Sonaco.

Guinea Bissau is a country of Western Africa; it has been a Portuguese colony till 1974.  Now it is an independent country with 1.5 million inhabitants. It is among the 10 poorest countries of the world. It produces peanuts, coconuts, rice, manioc etc.
