Report of the 17th Mission to India (Provision of Foodstuffs)

On Friday, the 19th of November 2010, "Heart Doctors" visited Andhra Pradesh in South Eastern India where they purchased staple food commodities from local markets and offered them to starving poor villagers (rice and dal).

Andhra Pradesh is a state in India situated on the south-eastern area of the country. Hyderabad is the capital of the state. It is the fourth largest state of India by area and the fifth largest by population. Agriculture is the main source of income (rice, sugar cane, cotton, mango, tobacco).

Information technology and biotechnology are important activities. The existing mineral wealth is also important (coal reserves, natural gas and petroleum). The largest proportion or the population corresponds to the utterly poor.
