Report of the 7th Mission to Kenya (Medical care)

On Saturday, the 17th of January 2009, a four member team of "Heart Doctors" reached Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, in order to offer medical services and medicines to poor populations. The team met Archbishop Makarios and cooperated with him during the mission.

During the first two days (the 18th and 19th of January) the team worked in poor suburban districts belonging to the area of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, about one hours drive from the capital. Thousands of patients gathered there to be examined by "Heart Doctors" and take the appropriate medicines.

On the 20th of January, the team worked in the area of Saint Stefanos-Kimende (2 hours off Nairobi). In this place a medical centre is being built by Archbishop Makarios (it consists of 5 large rooms reception, examination, maternity, offices, toilets). "Heart Doctors" cover the construction costs and will visit the medical centre again for the inauguration when the works will finish. The quality of the work looks excellent.

On the 21st of January, the team moved to the district of Saint Christoforos-Longai.

On the 22nd of January the team visited Massai land and worked there during the day. Hundreds of patients gathered and were examined and treated.

In a place called Molo, near the lake of Nakuru, foodstuffs were distributed to hungry people belonging to the expelled populations of last years civil bloody conflicts for political reasons.

The team was very much impressed by the quality of the work Archbishop Makarios is doing in Kenya.
