2nd Mission PHILIPPINES

Heart Doctors and friends visited Philippines and offered drinking water and foodstuffs (milk for children and rice) to the victims of typhoon Hayan which swept away a part of Visayas group of islands of the country, on 8.11.2013, leaving behind complete devastation with millions homeless and many thousand dead. At the same time, an earthquake of 4.8 Richter and a tropical storm added their disastrous effect on the same area.

The donated items were distributed to the neighbouring islands Leyte and Samar. Dead bodies sacked in black plastic bags were transported by trucks and buried together in common graves. The mission was locally coordinated and assisted by the consular services of Cyprus in Philippines.
