12th Mission Republic of NIGER

On Saturday, the 6th of May 2018, a team of Heart Doctors flew from Athens to Abuja, Nigeria. Then they flew to Zinder, a town in Southern Niger (together with an official from the Embassy of Niger State in Khartoum). The purpose of the visit was to buy from markets of the Republic of Niger certain staple foodstuffs and offer them to poor nomadic populations of shepherds staying in the wide area around Zinder. This land suffers now from drought and hunger.

Heart Doctors purchased corn flour, milk powder for children and sugar. These commodities were distributed to local representatives of Fulani, Tuareg and Hausa ethnic groups who transported them by animals to the places where they stay with their herds.
